The project:

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in المملكة العربية السعودية. This unique project consists of major mixed use development including sports facilities, entertainment and arts along with all associated infrastructure.

Mace is one of the delivery partners requiring high calibre and experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.

The role:

Mace is seeking an experienced Senior Design Compliance Manager - MEP to support a major programme currently in the construction phase, acting in the capacity of the Engineer.

In this role, you will provide independent design assurance and engineering oversight of MEP works, ensuring that all installations, submittals and construction activities comply with the approved design, Employer's Requirements and applicable codes. You will play a key role in certifying compliance, managing technical risk and ensuring integrity of design through to installation, testing and handover.

You'll be responsible for:

• Act as part of the Engineer's team, providing independent review, verification and approval of MEP related design and construction deliverables.
• Lead MEP design compliance during construction, ensuring all works align with approved IFC documentation, specifications and Employer's Requirements.
• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs and technical submissions, ensuring compliance with design intent and regulatory standards.
• Provide technical oversight of MEP installations on site, verifying workmanship, system integration and adherence to approved designs.
• Identify and manage design deviations, non compliance and technical risks, issuing instructions and driving resolution with contractors and design consultants.
• Oversee coordination of mechanical, electrical, public health, ELV and specialist systems within complex, multi disciplinary environments.
• Ensure compliance of specialist systems relevant to large scale venues (e.g. lighting, broadcast, life safety, resilience and redundancy systems).
• Support the review and issuance of Engineer's Instructions, approvals and technical certifications in line with contract requirements.
• Interface with contractors, supervision teams and consultants to ensure clear interpretation and implementation of design requirements.
• Support authority inspections, approvals and statutory compliance processes.
• Participate in system testing, commissioning and handover, ensuring performance aligns with operational requirements.
• Provide regular reporting on design compliance, risks and construction performance to senior leadership.
• Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

• Degree qualified in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
• Proven experience operating in a design compliance / design management / engineering assurance role during construction.
• Strong experience acting for or alongside the Engineer on major projects under FIDIC or similar contracts.
• Demonstrable experience reviewing and approving shop drawings, submittals and MEP installations.
• Experience delivering large scale infrastructure, sports, entertainment or complex public developments.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems integration, site coordination and commissioning processes.
• Experience within the Middle East, with strong knowledge of authority and regulatory requirements (KSA preferred).
• Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and technical communication skills.
• Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of المملكة العربية السعودية and have relevant work experience working on high valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval.
