Role Overview
A Telemedicine Endocrinology Registrar is a physician in advanced training who provides specialised care for patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders through virtual platforms. The role integrates clinical expertise in endocrinology with digital health technologies to deliver accessible, efficient, and patient centred care, while continuing professional development under consultant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Conduct remote consultations for acute, chronic, and complex endocrine medical conditions.
- Deliver high quality medical consultations using video, phone, and secure messaging.
- Utilise telehealth tools to assess, diagnose and manage patients.
- Ensure safe prescribing practices and appropriate use of digital monitoring devices.
- Provide continuity of care for patients with long term conditions such as diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism and osteoporosis.
- Monitor treatment adherence and outcomes using remote patient monitoring systems.
- Coordinate follow up visits, both virtual and in person when necessary.
- Develop and implement personalised treatment plans, including medication management, referrals to specialists and lifestyle modifications.
- Adjust treatment plans based on digital data and patient reported outcomes.
- Document findings and treatment plans meticulously in patient records.
- Collaborate with consultants, subspecialists and allied health professionals via digital platforms.
- Facilitate referrals and multidisciplinary case discussions using telehealth systems.
- Deliver virtual counselling on lifestyle modification, medication adherence and disease self management.
- Promote preventive care through digital outreach (screenings for thyroid disease, osteoporosis risk assessments, diabetes prevention programmes).
- Participate in telemedicine driven endocrine care programmes (e.g., diabetes clinics, thyroid follow up pathways).
- Contribute to data driven quality improvement projects aimed at improving outcomes and reducing costs.
- Apply value based care principles to optimise efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear and concise explanations of diagnoses, treatment options and follow up care.
- Adhere to all relevant medical regulations, ethical guidelines and quality assurance standards for telehealth and in person practice.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of telehealth regulations and best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research activities and clinical audits to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Regularly review compliance protocols and participate in training sessions.
- Collaborate with compliance officers to ensure all practices meet regulatory standards.
- Prepare reports for audits and inspections, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
Professional Development
- Continuously enhance professional knowledge and skills in internal medicine, in person and telehealth best practices.
- Attend relevant conferences, workshops and online courses.
- Stay abreast of advancements in family medicine, in person care and telehealth technology.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the latest advancements in internal medicine and telehealth technology.
Telehealth Platform Proficiency
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with data protection regulations.
- Maintain proficiency in utilising the designated telehealth platform, including video conferencing, secure messaging and electronic health record integration.
- Actively participate in training programmes and stay updated on platform enhancements and best practices; collaborate with IT support to troubleshoot technical issues.
Patient Safety and Satisfaction
- Maintain compliance with all patient safety standards and ensure patient safety across all clinical interactions.
- Report any patient safety risks or issues to the appropriate staff in the quality department.
- Practice safe medicine to ensure no patient harm.
- Explain medications, possible side effects and proper use.
- Maintain satisfactory patient consultations through communication, thorough history, empathy and understanding of patient conditions and circumstances.
- Monitor patient feedback and address concerns promptly.
- Implement safety protocols to minimise risks during consultations.
- Conduct regular training sessions on patient safety for healthcare staff.

Skills
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training in Internal Medicine from an accredited program.
- Fellowship training in Endocrinology from an accredited program.
- Fellowship certification in Endocrinology or equivalent.
- Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) classification and registration as an Endocrinology Registrar.
- Proven experience as an Endocrinology Registrar or similar role.
- Experience in practising population health management and value based care approaches.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records and telemedicine platforms.
- Strong clinical judgment and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish effective relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of the latest advancements in Endocrinology medicine, population health management and value based care.
