Head of Strategy - Defence

Tektora is supporting a major organisation in the GCC with the appointment of an experienced Head of Strategy to help shape and deliver its long-term defence ambitions.

This is a senior, high-impact contract opportunity for an established defence strategy leader who has operated within complex, highly regulated environments and can work credibly across executive, government, military and industry stakeholders.

The successful individual will play a central role in defining strategic priorities, supporting major capability programmes and translating long-term defence objectives into clear, executable plans.

Opportunity

You will work closely with senior leadership and key regional stakeholders to support enterprise strategy, organisational transformation, capability development and investment planning.

The role will require someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical execution, bringing a strong understanding of the defence ecosystem, major programmes, sovereign capability development and the operating models of leading defence organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of long-term defence and enterprise strategy
  • Advise senior executives, government stakeholders and programme leadership
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps, operating models and delivery plans
  • Support capability development, transformation and organisational design initiatives
  • Assess market, geopolitical, industrial and technological trends affecting the defence sector
  • Provide strategic input into major programmes, investment priorities and partnership decisions
  • Build and manage relationships with defence primes, government bodies, military stakeholders and strategic partners
  • Support localisation, sovereign capability and industrial participation objectives across the GCC
  • Establish governance, performance measures and reporting frameworks to track strategic progressChallenge existing assumptions and provide clear, commercially grounded recommendations to leadership
Required Experience
  • Significant leadership experience within defence, aerospace, national security or a closely related sector
  • Proven experience in a senior strategy, transformation, advisory or corporate development المنصب
  • Strong understanding of complex defence programmes and government-led environments
  • Experience working for, or closely alongside, a major defence prime is highly desirable
  • Background with organisations such as BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, RTX, Leonardo, Thales, Airbus, Babcock, General Dynamics or similar would be particularly relevant
  • Demonstrable experience engaging with C-suite, military and government stakeholders
  • Ability to develop strategy and remain close to execution, delivery and measurable outcomes
  • Strong commercial, analytical and stakeholder-management capability
  • Previous experience operating within the GCC defence market is highly advantageous
  • Willingness to be based in, or travel extensively across, the GCC
