BlackRock’s Fundamental Fixed Income (FFI) business manages more than $2.8 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, actively managed, alternative, and liability driven investment strategies. The platform provides fixed income investors one of the industrys broadest arrays of investment solutions encompassing both model-based and fundamental investment styles.

The Emerging Markets Fixed Income Team, a part of BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group, comprises Portfolio Managers (PMs) based in London, New York and Sao Paulo. PMs use a combination of fundamental, valuations and technical analyses within their top-down and bottom-up framework, aiming to generate durable alpha returns for retail and institutional investors. As of March 2024, the team managed $c35bn in assets across more than 50 portfolios.

Based in Riyadh, BlackRock is seeking a senior portfolio manager with strong interest in fixed income research, analysis, and portfolio management. The selected candidate will join the Emerging Markets Debt team and will be responsible for the array of portfolio implementation and management responsibilities described below across our Saudi and GCC/MENA portfolios, with an emphasis on a fundamentally intensive research process. The candidate will also be involved in portfolio construction, risk management as well as contribute to region-wide commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio management responsibilities include:

  • Fundamental sovereign analysis and idea generation in sovereign and quasi sovereign opportunities

  • Fundamental corporate analysis and idea generation in MENA corporates

  • Order raising, monitoring execution, ensuring portfolio consistency with broader EM views.

  • Delivering operational excellence and foster a culture of investment risk control and compliance.

  • Coordinate with the Product Strategy team to ensure seamless dialogue with the client.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a quantitative field preferred (e.g., finance/economics, computer science, engineering, math, etc.)

  • Relevant experience in the investment management industry

  • Interpersonal skills that contribute to and foster a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing

  • Willingness to produce high quality work in a demanding, fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Detail-oriented, team-oriented and self-motivated
