The Senior Safety Associate is responsible for the implementation and adoption of control & compliance of all HSSE Policies & Procedures while developing health and safety culture and increase awareness within the company to meet a safe working environment.


Key Responsibilities

1. Organizational:

  • Support the implementation of the group HSSE policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the HSSE compliance and track HSSE performances.

2. Operational

  • Ensure compliance with SOP to world class standards
  • Prepare business or store specific HSSE risk assessments.
  • Develop a health and safety culture within the company meeting any regulatory HSSE requirements through the delivery of strategic direction and operational implementation.
  • Increase awareness on HSSE matters and develop / communicate periodical and refresher training to all employees working in Chalhoub in collaboration with the operation streams in the Group.
  • Ensure the delivery of essential HSSE training for all levels within the company and including the new joiners.
  • Ensure contractors, consultants and operators meet and maintain regulatory and Chalhoub HSSE requirements on all sites under the control or influence of Chalhoub, by providing HSSE minimum requirements to the group facilities department and 3D team where required.
  • Enforce incident reporting from the business, advise businesses on the incident categories and monitor reported data and ensure compliance with the group incident reporting and investigation procedure.
  • Communicate and reinforce HSSE policy and requirements to consultants, contractors and employees, and lead by example in developing a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure inspections of fulfilment Centers are carried to ensure safe working practices are implemented and followed, and hazards and risks appropriately managed to protect assets, people, property & environment.
  • Identify non-compliance / conformance and liaise with all stakeholders in issuing non-compliance and corrective action reports.
  • Escalate concerns of a serious nature to the Group Safety and Security Head for attention.
  • Compile quarterly business HSSE performance report and forward to Group Safety and Security Head.
  • Participate in all supporting relevant stakeholders in reported accidents, incidents (including near miss) investigations in conjunction with consultants, contractors, and employees.
  • Review and provide feedback on new build and renovation projects.
  • Attend and actively participate in site-based progress and HSSE team meetings.
  • Keep up to date with relevant HSSE legislation and standards, particularly those that affect Human resources, building codes, Fire & Safety, Warehousing and Transportation.
  • Provide advice support and training on HSSE matters to Chalhoub Group site-based employees.
  • Conduct changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Carry out risk assessments, identify root causes and action plans on how risks could be reduced.
  • Ensure that records of inspections findings and producing reports are maintained that suggest improvements.
  • Ensure the safe installation of equipment.
  • Ensure records of incidents and accidents are maintained and produce statistics / dashboards.
  • Ensure inspections and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
  • Ensure inspections are carried out to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
  • Ensure the maintaining and update emergency response plans and procedure.

  • 3-5 years of experience (logistic experience)
  • Preferred mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • NEBOSH IGC,
  • Construction Exposure

  • Lead auditor (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001)
