Position: Head of Development – Sports Real Estate

MRG Global is conducting a confidential search on behalf of our client for a visionary leader to fill the position of Head of Development responsible for sports assets across their entire masterplan.

Overview:
Our client is a dynamic and innovative PIF-backed entity located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As part of its commitment to providing a world-class destination, they are seeking a C-level Head of Development for Sports to lead this asset class development. This role will be pivotal in shaping and managing the development of various sports assets within the masterplan, including equestrian assets, golf courses, multi-purpose sports venues and stadia assets, among others.

Responsibilities:
As the Head of Development, you will be responsible for:

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the development of sports assets in alignment with the organizations overall vision and objectives.
• Development Management: Oversee the planning, design, and construction phases of sports facilities, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgets.
• Financial Management: Develop budgets for sports asset development projects and monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness. Evaluate financial performance and identify opportunities for revenue generation through sports assets.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, sports federations, investors, and community organizations. Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote the sports assets and establish partnerships.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to sports facility development and operations. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard assets and investments.

Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate will possess:

• Bachelors degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
• Proven experience (15+ years) in sports facility development, or related areas, with a track record of successful projects on a global scale.
• Strong understanding of sports industry trends, market dynamics, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Passion for sports and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to athletes, spectators, and guests.
