JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Naval Forces ships and train RSNF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their ships and equipment.
The post holder is responsible to the Senior Boat Maintainer for the maintenance of the Facility Flotilla.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
The post holder is responsible for:
- Delivering NOT’s prescribed standards of maintenance ashore and afloat
- Supporting the Senior Boat Maintainer to deliver NOT’s Safety Charter with specific attention to Cadet Health and Safety during Marina Operations
- Supporting the provision of safety cover for all water users
- Completing all relevant paperwork relating to boat operations, e.g. Risk Assessments, maintenance logs and incident reporting forms
- Conducting maintenance of all Facility equipment
- Working with the Senior Boat Maintainer to:
o support Facility activities in line with documentation
o maintain the Facility routine
o deal with emergency situations both afloat and ashore
o maintain VHF communication during boat operations
o conduct equipment maintenance schedules
o support the safe hosting of visitors
o ensure the safety of Cadets and employees under his supervision
o maintenance of boats, engines and ancillary equipment
o maintenance of relevant shore equipment
o carry out Duty Facility Instructor (DFI) duties.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
The post holder must:

The post holder must have:
- Higher National Diploma I or equivalent in engineering.
- Must have previous naval experience in leading and overseeing boat maintenance and servicing appointment, supported by extant references.
- Practical maritime engineering experience in the delivery and maintenance in a Prime Contract environment.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in maintenance engineering and its application in the development and acquisition in maritime and defence contracts, with particular experience in the application of requirements management, supplier management, acceptance and product handover is essential.
- Working Knowledge and experience in the development and application of engineering safety processes, and functional governance is essential.
- Working Knowledge and practical application of Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and Provision and Use of Works Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).
